My picture doesn't show it, but I actually wear two "hats" here at FBC. In the fall of 1995 I began serving part-time as Director of Gift-based Ministry. That role has given me the privilege of helping people in our body understand how God has made them, and their unique role and ministry fit at FBC. I love seeing people using their gifts & passion in ministry.
In 2002, I accepted the full-time position as Director of Mission Formation. As I look back on my life and attitudes, I realize how unlikely that someone like me would hold this position. During my "growing up" years, I was constantly exposed to missions and missionaries (several in my own family!). But missions was not for me...at least I didn't think so. But God changed that attitude. Through first hand exposure (trips to our sister church in Ukraine) and through the Spirit of God releasing a passion within me for this mission of reaching the world, I now have the privildge of helping to lead FBC in becoming a congregation of global citizens.
So I grew up in a Christian family that was on a journey with God. I'm not sure exactly when my faith became real, but I do know that at around the age of 9 I had the confidence that I was a believer and a child of God. My family and church had led me to an understanding of what it meant to be a Christ follower.
I ended up in New Castle because God gave me a wonderful husband, Gordon who grew up at FBC. He has been my greatest encourager and confidence builder. Today we share the same passions - people development and participating with God as He reaches the nations of the world.
